Mr. Koenig will be the Principal Investigator of the proposed research. Mr. Koenig brings more than 20 years of product design and manufacturing, project management and leadership experience from various industries ranging from medical to electrochemical device manufacturers. Mr. Koenig has been responsible for taking the conceptual innovations to product launch. Mr. Koenig has significant experience in component design, injection molding, production, tooling, machining, fabrication and processes background with in depth hands-on experience. He has had extensive exposure to miniature and micro product manufacturing, welding, machining and assembly. Mr. Koenig has acquired significant expertise in ProE CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, Cadkey, and other software tools. In fact, the conceptual design of the fuel gas contactor (FGC) was first conceived by Mr. Koenig and brought to practice in a few short weeks. Mr. Koenig has more than six awarded patents to his credit and several pending patents. Many of his patents are now commercially available products.

Prior to joining Phyre Technologies, Mr. Koenig worked as a Director of Engineering for MD3 Inc. where he developed arterial stents and small diameter drug coatings. Prior to joining MD3 Mr. Koenig worked as a design engineer with Med-e-Cell, where he was responsible for product and process development of electrochemical micropumps for controlled fluid delivery. In addition to these recent positions, Mr. Koenig held several long term positions in the past with two device manufacturing companies.
